herb & dorothy

“Some people are born to make great art and others are born to appreciate it. . . . It's a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are a spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano.  ... There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see.”  (Ann Patchett, Bel Canto)

Herb & Dorothy, a documentary about art collectors Herb and Dorothy Vogel (a postman and librarian, respectively) shows how far your good eye and passion can take you.

And it made me smile.

It will make you smile too.

I promise.

I loved that show. Warm.

By the way, like seeing you on here again. It always brings a smile to my face, even the contemplative posts.

I remember hearing about it when it was playing in limited theaters and I had to be so patient and wait until it came out on DVD. I lOVED that movie. It made me think for a long time afterward. I'm sure Matt and my coworkers were tired of hearing about it.

I loved this one. I also really liked "Art of the Steal" about the controversy surrounding the Barnes Foundation in Pennsylvania.
